This past Sunday, February 2nd was not only Superbowl in the U.S., but also “la Chandeleur” – the national Crêpe Day in France! Thus, Chef Anne Moriarta, Jennifer Moriarta and I thought that it will be an excellent opportunity to introduce the art of French style crêpes making to the “petits chefs” (young chefs) who wish to join us at Chefanti for another round of hands-on fun cooking time together!
I am really excited to be teaching another Kid’s Cooking class in one of my favorite kitchens in town along with the super talented Chef Anne. By the way, Chefanti was selected the best “Dinner to Go” by Country Lines Magazine in 2014. Make sure to stop by there soon!
French Crêpes Kid’s Cooking Class at Chefanti: Les crêpes (pronounced “kreip”) are very popular in France, either filled with sweet or savory ingredients they are so delicious and not very difficult to make at all. Chef Anne and I will make sure that the young chefs won’t be intimidated by the delicate French thin pancakes once we show them a simple way to prepare perfectly cooked, crispy-edged crêpes with all kinds of wonderful fillings. Everyone will get the opportunity to flip their own crêpes and will be able to enjoy the “galettes” with savory fillings and sweet dessert “crêpes” top with seasonal fruits as well. Of course, we will be making a healthier version of the hazelnut chocolate spread, free of refined sugar and artificial ingredients. Who could resist such a lovely yummy chocolaty goodness?
Gluten free, dairy free, soy free, nut free & vegan options available, please ask upon registration.
Cost: $65 includes 1 1/2 hour class with full proof recipes, hands-on cooking and food sampling.
Date: Saturday, February 15th 2014
Time: 10:00am to Noon for ages 4-6 & 1:30pm to 3:30pm for ages 7-12.

Well, it’s another snowy day here, since both kids, husband and dog are home for the day, guess what was on our lunch menu? Oui, les crêpes!!! Yes to the savory buckwheat crêpes filled with mushrooms, spinach and goat cheese as well as the banana chocolate hazelnut sweet crêpes for dessert too! “C’est si bon, non?” – It’s so good, right?
Enjoy the snow and keep warm!
